An ancient necromancer haunts Princess Yasmela from beyond the grave. Now the worshiper of Ishtar must turn favor and grovel to her ancestors’ deity. There is only one question. Will Mitra let the Princess burn in her own personal hell?
Divine intervention falls upon the ruler of Khoraja. Yasmela must follow the god of prophecy by recruiting the very first man she meets on the streets of her capital city. Fortune favors the bold. Conan, captain of the local mercenary brigade, stumbles upon the princess in a dark alleyway. Let the cards fall where they may.
Can a newly promoted general lead the fractured armies of Khoraja to victory against Natohk the Veiled One? What are the shadow forces which aid the necromancer in battle? Will Prince Katuman finally defeat Conan in single combat?
“The Hyborian Age”
Titan Comics presents the complex history of the Pre-Cataclysmic world in which the Hyborian Age would rise. Adapted from the writings of Robert E Howard, Roy Thomas and artist Walter Simonson present this wonderful history. For those looking for information on the Thurian Age, this is a good place to start.
Review
The original Marvel Comics adaptation of Black Colossus returns to print thanks to the team at Titan Comics! This is a fully colorized version of the work first published in Savage Sword of Conan No.02 (1974). As this is my first time reading the story in comic book format, I have to say it is very well done.
Conan shows prime alpha male thinking here and it is comedic gold. When offered power and status from Princess Yasmela, his thoughts got straight to drink, women, and a giant turkey leg. Classic man stuff. For this, I give Black Colossus full marks and five stars. I can’t wait for the next issue.
