A race to Vestfold! Narrowly escaping the downfall of Velanger, Red Sonja slips through the frontlines of Thord Varg’s army. Now on the road leading to the source of the plaque, a warrior possessed by the dead sorcerer Kulan Gath has promised Sonja victory if she returns the black diamond to the Cradle of Vestfold.
Back in Velanger, Thord Varg stands at the battered gates of the once prestigious citadel. All around him the remnants of the defending militia battle to stop the full takeover of their city. The effort is in vain. With the overwhelming number of attackers it’s only a matter of time before the population falls to the sword. Those that bow to the will of the High Priest by taking the oath, may be spared with a fate worse than death.
Can Red Sonja trust the word of a dead man destroyed centuries before she was even born? What foul thing awaits the Hyrkanian Harlot as the slaver convoy repels her attack? Will the Black Diamond finally be returned to its cradle in Vestfold? Collect the series to find out!
Reviewer Notes
Kulan Gath has returned again to haunt Red Sonja, and this time it appears the Sorcerer has gained the upper hand. Now that we know who the mysterious entity is, things have definitely gotten interesting. Will it be enough to breathe life back into this lingering story arc? Let’s hope so.
I’m giving issue five of Red Sonja three out of five stats. It seems we will have to wait until December 27th for the next installment of this series. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a grand finale to “His Master’s Voice”.
